Thanks to innovative ADINSClean technology, Comindex enables the formulation of self-cleaning coatings. Their incorporation in the formulation of outdoor coatings allows a reduction in dirt and contamination triggered by the direct action of light.

As a result of the photocatalysis process, degradation of the organic matter is achieved, contributing to less dirt build-up on façades.

The characterisation of the self-cleaning is assessed by standard UNI 11259-8 Fotocatalisi – Determinazione dell’attività fotocatalitica di leganti idraulici – Metodo della rodammina.

The test monitors the evolution of the Rhodamine B colour over time (26 hours) by means of a colorimeter. To do this, the surface of the sample is impregnated with 0.5 ml of an aqueous solution of Rhodamine and the variation of parameter a* (time 0 hours) is measured just before the exposure of the sample to UV and it is measured again after 4 and 26 hours of exposure.

The sample is considered photocatalytic with respect to Rhodamine if the percentages of colour reduction are greater than 20% and 50% at 4 and 26 hours, respectively.

With the incorporation of ADINSClean in a paint formulation for building façades we achieve both self-cleaning and decontaminating surfaces.
