Purify the air you breathe

At Comindex we help to decontaminate both indoor and outdoor environments through the formulation of coatings with Adinsclean.

Adinsclean is a photocatalytic additive, whose presence in paint not only helps to eliminate dirt from an exterior coating and contamination, it also helps to purify the air in indoor environments, eliminating VOCs and SVOCs.

Today, interior paints are not only measured according to their VOC emissions; there are also other long-lasting volatile organic compounds that we call semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) due to their slow evaporation, which should also be eliminated due to their harmful consequences for health.

90% of our lives are spent indoors, where there are 5 times more contaminants than outside (NOx, VOC, FA, etc.).

This type of paint is already being applied in hotels, interior living spaces: offices, the hospitality industry, nursing homes and hospitals. Certain town councils are now requesting these types of materials to achieve increasingly sustainable urban development, because in addition to environmental decontamination, self-cleaning properties and air purification they allow a reduction in attack from microorganisms and provide a deodorising effect.

Despite the fact that photocatalysts are more efficient outdoors, since the UV component of visible light is required (to act with greater efficiency), the variables are more controllable indoors and an optimal rate of degradation can be sought. Most tests have been carried out with white fluorescent light, but these results can be improved with certain LEDs, both with a UV component.

Adinsclean is based on TiO2 nanoparticles supported on sepiolite, providing you with a number of advantages:

  • Safer handling, avoiding exposure to nanoparticles
  • Larger specific surface area, achieving greater effectiveness with a lower dosage
  • Easier dispersion
  • Lower internal degradation of the resin/binder formulation
