In this day and age, sustainability is on everyone’s lips. As a result, a large number of formulators try to develop new products that meet regulations to help protect the environment.

We at Comindex want to introduce you to the aluminium pigment manufacturer Metaflake. Not only is the manufacturing of their products environmentally friendly, they also offer a series of references for Ecolabel formulations.

Metaflake has developed an innovative, environmentally friendly method founded on water-based aluminium milling. Accordingly, the Silver Dollar-type aluminium pigments obtained offer excellent properties and they are free of residual solvents, VOCs and do not leave traces of odour. Owing to this absence of solvents, the Aqua-Brite SD and Aqua-Brite SD-WP ranges are perfect for formulating Ecolabel products.

These product lines have a range of applications as they are ideal for many water-borne coatings, such as decorative paints (high-end décor), coatings on plastic support, motor car part paints, etc.

They offer exceptional properties including high gloss (flip-flop effect) and excellent stability in aqueous formulations against gas generation. What is more, there is a range of particle sizes to make it possible to meet specific formulation needs.
