Coupling agent for carbon fibre materials

BYK is expanding its range of coupling agents for composite materials with a second product specifically for carbon fibre materials.

The additive is used in vinyl ester resins for the manufacture of carbon fibre composites. The tensile strength of the fibres increases considerably, which provides greater design freedom. The improved adhesion between fibre and matrix increases the flexural strength of the composite. BYK-C 8014 is recommended mainly in vinyl ester-based SMC when an isocyanate is used as a thickening agent instead of MgO.
 


 

The additive comes in liquid form and is therefore easy to use. BYK-C 8014 has a minimum stability of 8 weeks once it has been added to the resin.
