ASK Chemicals WOOD IMPREGNATIONS

Wood stains and impregnations must offer the following features:

  • They must enhance the colour of the wood
  • They must be permeable to diffusion
  • They must minimise cracking of wood
  • They must be easy-to-formulate and easy-to-use

ASK Chemicals has a range of Necowel FLE emulsions for formulating these products which are based on linseed oil and fish oil. The oils are copolymerised using an unsaturated hydrocarbon. The copolymer is emulsified using a non-ionic, APEO-free emulsifier system.

Necowel FLE 55 emulsions offer the following advantages:

  • Excellent penetration (low viscosity of copolymer) and wetting properties
  • Wood colour enhancement (similar to traditional solvent-based systems)
  • VOC- and sVOC-free
  • Weather / UV resistance. Water vapour-permeable
  • Recoatability. Non-film-forming

Copolymers for wood impregnation:

  • Including cobalt-siccative
  • NECOWEL FLE 55 LC - Co-/K-combination-siccative with low Co-content
  • Siccative-free emulsions:
  • NECOWEL FLE 55 CF, no siccatives
  • NECOWEL FLE 55 M, no siccatives. Improved early-water resistance due to a special additive combination in the emulsion
  • NECOWEL FLE 55 SR, no siccatives. Improved early-water resistance due to a special additive combination in the emulsion and enhanced surface drying through a modified fatty acid formulation of the base resin.
  • NECOWEL LE 55 E, no siccatives. Improved drying properties due to a special chemical modification of the copolymer backbone and a special additive combination in the emulsion.
