Specific seminar on water-borne technologies for wood coatings
Zaragoza, 23 November 2017

Alberdingk & Boley, BYK-Chemie and Comindex are delighted to invite you to the seminar on water-borne technologies for wood that will be held in Zaragoza at Diagonal Plaza hotel on 23 November from 10 am to 5 pm.

The event will be a meeting point for experts in the field of wood coatings. The goal is to provide advice on regular problems and to showcase the latest developments in the formulation of wood coatings.

It will also offer the perfect opportunity to allow those in attendance to engage with colleagues from the sector, to come face-to-face with international experts and to explore issues linked to formulation in-depth with specialist experts from Alberdingk & Boley and BYK-Chemie.

The topics to be addressed in the seminar are as follows:

Floor and furniture coatings
Choice of additives for formulating conventional UV- curable water-borne furniture and wood coatings. In this section, we will be offering advice on the choice of additives for formulation, focussing on silicon and polymeric surface additives, wax additives to enhance matting properties, as well as wetting and dispersing additives for silica matting agents.
Rheological additives. Here we will be discussing pseudoplastic and thixotropic flow, as well as the adjustment of flow characteristics in water-borne systems with associative thickeners and synthetic clays.
DIY architectural paint. Here we will be discussing the limitations of the latest and indeed future regulations when it comes to the formulation of these types of coatings.
Developments with defoamer, wetting and dispersing and rheological additives. Here we will be presenting new additives that meet the latest and will adhere to future regulations and which address specific problems.
On-site UV-curing systems. We will address the formulations of these highly useful systems in new builds and in restoring wood floors.

On behalf of Alberdingk & Boley, the experts who will be giving their presentations are Mr Helmut Friedrich, Technical Marketing Coatings – Polyurethane-Acrylic-UV-Dispersions and Mr Sebastian Damm, Sales and Marketing Dispersions.

On behalf of BYK-Chemie, the speakers will be Mr Holger Wach, Laboratory Manager Wood Coatings and Mr Carsten Erkens, Technical Service Wood Coatings.
The presentations and the market place will be given in English.

The seminar will start at 10 am and continue until 5 pm. After breakfast, we will organise a market place with explanatory posters and a host of applied samples on display to allow attendees to discuss aspects of formulation and application with the speakers.
