The primary composition of these microspheres is sodium-calcium borosilicate glass. This unique composition allows for high thermal resistance, excellent corrosion resistance and low oil absorption (with hydrophilic and lipophilic properties), helping to reduce solvent content (by decreasing the need for other absorbent fillers) as the microspheres do not impact formulation viscosity.

Sinosteel’s hollow glass microspheres are very small particles, and their morphology produces a ball-bearing effect, which enhances flow, reduces viscosity and lowers the internal tension of the system when mixed with resin. Moreover, Sinosteel manufactures these microspheres producing highly thin walls (ranging from 1 to 3.5 μm in thickness), giving them a low weight while maintaining high strength.

Inside, the hollow glass microspheres provide excellent resistance to heat and cold, improving coating flexibility and reducing cracking and peeling caused by thermal contraction and expansion.
