Solvent-based resins for inks

We provide a comprehensive range of solvent-based resins:

  • Saturated polyester resins for both 2C systems (with reactive hydroxyl groups) and 1C systems
  • Thermosetting acrylic resins for 2C systems with hydroxyl groups allowing for crosslinking
  • Thermoplastic acrylic resins for 1C systems
  • Polyurethane resins for 1C systems and nitrocellulose inks

In this release, we will be discussing solvent-based PU resins for printing inks based on NC, which are used for printing on flexible films suitable for food packaging.

In the formulation of such inks, these PU resins offer excellent flexibility, high adhesion on polyolefin substrates and high heat resistance; they enable the formulation of bright colours, provide high coverage over black and are compatible with all types of resins.

Our range for ink formulation includes the following series:

  • KROL PPF: conventional PU resins for gravure and flexographic ink formulations for NC systems.
  • KROL PUP: elastomeric PU resins for gravure and flexographic ink formulations.
  • KROL ACS: thermoplastic acrylic resin for inks on PVC.

Additionally, we offer the KROL LAC M lacquer, an acrylic lacquer to be used as a primer for metal surfaces such as metallised OPP, metallised PET and aluminium foil primer. It offers high UV resistance, transparency and a high gloss finish.
