Achieve optimal colour elegance thanks to our carbon blacks

At Comindex we want to offer you a wide range of carbon black pigments. This pigment is an almost pure form of elemental carbon. It is produced by the incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons – mainly oil – under controlled conditions. The outcome is a granulate or fine powder with a high surface area to volume ratio. This material is present in various objects that are all around us every day.

Of the many grades offered by PCBL we are now specifically focussing on those suited to the paints and plastics sectors.

As you will be familiar, many factors are considered when formulating paint. When we refer to carbon blacks, it is important to ascertain whether the aim is to achieve good dispersion, high colouring strength or increased gloss. The viscosity of the system must also be taken into account because these pigments exhibit high oil absorption and as a result can increase the final viscosity.

The following diagram shows some of the properties of these pigments depending on the particle size:
 


PCBL’s carbon black pigments can also be used in thermoplastics and thermostable resins, delivering high-quality finishes.

We have a product range in which several families stand out:

Primarily recommended for paints:

  • NuTone –developed to provide a unique colour, gloss and ease of dispersion

Primarily recommended for plastics:

  • Bleumina –these are pigments that fuse high aesthetics with durability. They provide a balanced structure offering a range of products with high gloss and good UV resistance. Recommended for polyolefins and engineering plastics.
  • Royale Black –these grades offer high conductivity, and good thermal and UV resistance. For special applications, such as electrical cables or water pipes.
