Save costs and obtain paints with dual functionality

Additives with dual functionality help to improve your formulations.

Not only do you kill two birds with one stone at a service level; you also reduce production time by including a single additive. And, in some cases, you can even reduce the cost.

ADINSClean is a photocatalytic additive based on active TiO2 nanoparticles. Its main function consists of catalysing the breakdown of organic matter on a surface through the action of sunlight (UV).

However, when we incorporate this additive in paint formulations for building facades, we achieve this dual functionality: surfaces that are both self-cleaning and decontaminating.

On the one hand, we attain a surface that eliminates dirt (organic material) and enables maintenance costs to be reduced, as regular cleaning of the surface is not necessary. On the other hand, we contribute to cleaning the air because it is also a photocatalyst for the breakdown of atmospheric pollution (VOCs and nitrogen oxides) into non-polluting substances.

Distributed by Comindex, ADINSClean is an additive featuring technology that separates it from other products. The TiO2 nanoparticles that it contains are supported on sepiolite, a needle-shaped mineral.

Thanks to this, the nanoparticles are easily dispersed and prevent the formation of clumps, at the same time as having a larger contact surface. Therefore, we increase the effectiveness of the additive and we can incorporate it at lower dosages.

Another advantage of the ADINSClean product having TiO2 nanoparticles supported on sepiolite is that we are not handling a nanometric-sized product and, furthermore, these nanoparticles are not released into the environment.

However, it is not only of use for paints for self-cleaning and decontaminating building facades. Other examples of applications, although they do not necessary need to have this dual functionality, include:
 

  • Asphalts
  • Mortars
  • Concretes
  • Ceramics

In conclusion, the ADINSClean photocatalytic additive reduces production time and achieves self-cleaning and decontaminating surfaces.
