Open letter to Jaume Figueras

Dear Jaume,

It is hard to believe that the time for you to retire has arrived.

When I began to work at Comindex, you had already been at the company for some years, having started in September 1986. You were one of the two Commercial Technical Advisors who attended to our clients. In fact, you were the only one who attended to the entire paint industry!

It has therefore been 35 years of cooperation, first at Comindex and at BYK from 1996.

It has been a treat for us to have enjoyed your natural gift for conveying complex technical knowledge in a simple, comprehensible manner. Who has not seen the light thanks to the diagrams that you sketch out on a piece of paper? Beyond your immense theoretical, technical and practical knowledge, you know the paint industry like no one else. We can ask you about any product, application, company, individual, and you always have a reasoned response. However, what stands out the most is your generosity, patience and attitude with everyone, in order to teach and help us at any time.

For me, Jaume, you embody wisdom: you are a person with a great amount of knowledge and a deep understanding of many and very diverse disciplines, and at the same time you have strong values and a great humanistic foundation. Any time spent with you is a pleasure. And, selfishly, I hope and wish to be able to continue enjoying your company and advice.

You already know that we welcomed Juan Andrés – the new BYK representative for the Paints line who joined the company on 1 August – with open arms and the same desire to work and continue to grow together.

Jaume, I would like to wish you all the best for the new future that awaits you from 1 November.
