Lingwe TSA silica matting agents

Lingwe TSA silica matting agents

Lingwe TSA silica matting agents stand out owing to their high efficiency, good transparency, low oil absorption and easy application in the paint and varnish production process.

These silicas are obtained through wet processing using gel-based technology. An alkaline treatment is incorporated into the production process to increase the pore volume in the silica, thereby enhancing its matting properties.

The TSA series comprises a broad range of individually distinguished products that stand out on account of their particle size and modification. The larger the particle (i.e., TSA-270L and TSA-270 at 6.5 μm), the greater the matting efficiency. The smaller the particle (i.e., TSA-230-L and TSA-230 at 4 μm), the greater the transparency. An “L” in the name indicates that the silica has organic surface treatment offering enhanced transparency, a treatment consisting of modifying the product’s refractive index and matching it to the refractive index of resins commonly used in paints and varnishes.

TSA-260L is the most common grade and is our top recommendation as it has an average particle size (5.5 μm) and excellent transparency results.

The primary areas of application of TSA silicas are coatings for wood, industrial paints, plastics and inks, along with other more specific applications such as coatings for coil, leather, textile and inkjet.

Lingwe has built up more than 20 years’ experience in developing high quality matting agents using the wet process (precipitated silica and silica gel). The company has an inorganic silica production base in the Chinese city of Loudi and three application centres in a further three Chinese cities: Guangzhou, Shanghai and Chengdu, which offer support and provide excellent responses to clients.
