The tin catalysts distributed by Comindex have already been or will be REACH registered this year, unlike similar catalysts from other suppliers and manufacturers who have stated they have no intention of doing so.

In addition to our standard range of regular grades marketed by us, Comindex also offers you the full range of products for various applications, including:

FOMREZ SUL-4: Dibutyltin dilaurate (DBTDL, DBTL). Widely used in the manufacture of polyether and polyester based urethane polymers and as a catalyst in the polymerisation of adhesives and urethane sealants. In addition, it is used as a catalyst in the curing of specific silicon resins, complying with FDA regulations for food contact, under 21 CFR 175.300 (see 21 CFR 175.300(b)(3)(xxviii)(b) for specific limitations). Fomrez SUL-4 can be used alone or in combination with standard amine co-catalysts. In polyurethane paints and coatings it is advisable to dissolve beforehand 10% DBTDL in xylene. When formulating, add around 0.1 to 0.4% of this dilution.

FOMREZ UL-59: Dioctyltin dilaurate (DOTDL, DOTL). This is an excellent alternative to DBTDL in polyurethane elastomer systems. Fomrez UL-59 is slightly less active than Fomrez SUL-4 and in order to attain the same reactive profile, the dose needs to be increased somewhat. As with Fomrez SUL-4, it can be used alone or in combination with standard amine co-catalysts.

FOMREZ UL-28: dimethyltin dineodecanotate. It is a highly active catalyst. It offers excellent solubility in polyurethane systems, providing very short gel and tack-free times, as well as good solubility. Some studies have shown that Fomrez SUL-28 proves to be almost as active as dibutyltin diacetate, although without the smell of acetic acid and without its corrosiveness. As a catalyst, it is more active than Fomrez SUL-4. It has a lower freezing point and enhanced hydrolytic stability. Fomrez UL-28 can be used in many similar applications to Fomrez SUL-4 such as one-shot and spray elastomers, room temperature vulcanised (RTV) silicone polymers or in polyurethane coatings. It is particularly useful in catalysing polyurethane reactions based on aliphatic isocyanates.

FOMREZ UL-22: Dimethyltin mercaptide. It is a highly active catalyst for polyurethane foam systems. It has very good hydrolytic stability, as well as very short gel and tack-free times. “B” components in polyurethane foam systems that have been formulated using Fomrez UL-22 and contain up to 0.5% water maintain their active nature and stability over a shelf period of up to 6 months. This long service life is vital as it allows large batches to be prepared for use over long periods.
