Comindex is currently marketing BactiBlock, an antimicrobial additive suitable for a host of materials: plastics, paints, construction materials, adhesives, polymers and other materials.

Bactiblock technology is based on absorbance of ionic silver or other active substances on a solid amorphous glass or clay carrier depending on the final application.

Using a solid carrier makes it possible to better control the leaching rate of the active substance compared to liquid antimicrobial additives, enhancing their durability.

Bactiblock actively works against bacteria, fungi, mould and algae making it an ideal single source solution against the spread of microbial organisms.

It comes in several specific grades for particular applications; for instance, there are grades suitable for food contact applications or others that can withstand high temperature processes.
